Mussoorie / Nainital / Haridwar: As cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant are increasingly reported across the country, hotels in Haridwar, Nainital and Mussoorie – which had reported nearly full bookings for Christmas and New Years – started to see cancellations of reservations. In addition, new bookings have also seen a decline.
Sandeep Sahni, President of the Uttarakhand Hotel Association, said: “Uttarakhand hotels are reporting the cancellation of up to 20% of reservations that had already been made for Christmas and New Years. new bookings have seen a decline. ”
Sanjay Aggarwal, secretary of the Mussoorie Hotel Association, said: “New bookings have dried up in recent days. Hoteliers are crossing their fingers that they hope the peak Christmas and New Years season is not affected. ”
Dinesh Sah, president of the Hotel Association in Nainital, told TOI that there had been cancellations but there was no panic at Nainital yet. Ved Sah, secretary of the Hotels Association, said there was no cancellation yet at his hotel. People are calling to find out what documents to take with them when they visit Nainital.
Vibhash Mishra, president of the Haridwar Hotel Association, told TOI: “There are reservations being canceled due to the Omicron threat. Until recently, there were a large number of phone calls from potential tourists regarding questions about New Year’s bookings, but in recent days those calls have declined significantly. We have called on the government to carefully issue guidelines and allow tourists who have been given double doses of the Covid vaccine. ”
