Some hotels in Palma are reinventing themselves by offer long-term rental accommodation with the aim of increasing income in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Apartments Vistasol already offers rental accommodation for stays of at least one month.

There are a lot of national and local residents looking for work, work or have had personal problems during confinement, ”explains hotel manager José Antonio Sola. “We started off by opening one floor for long term rentals and now we have four.”

The 72 long-stay apartments available for rent at the price of Vistasol 500-690 euros per month, plus a flat rate of 120 euros for electricity and water and are available for a maximum period of six months.

“These are eye-catching prices with all services included,” says García, who says most people choose to stay in hotel to save money.

Victoria Prayones and Santiago da Ponte, originally from Paraguay, work remotely and have been living in Vistasol since July.

“At first it was strange to think that we could live in such a small space, but it was a very good experience,” they said.

The couple moved to Mallorca from Barcelona five months ago and plans to return to Paraguay in December.
