Hotel shortage hits Benin City
Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on November 13, 2021 between the Super Eagles and the Sierra Leone Leone Stars in Benin City, the Nigerian Football Federation and the host State Government of Sierra Leone Edo, encountered accommodation issues as all top ranked hotels were full
âVirtually all of the city’s major hotels were fully booked ahead of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for November 14, one day after the Super Eagles v Sierra Leone game at the refurbished Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
âWe went looking for quality hotels with NFF President Amaju Pinnick last week and found that all the vouchers were reserved for guests expected for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s swearing-in ceremony. We are working on the best way to handle the situation.

âThe governor ordered that we should ensure that the Super Eagles and their Sierra Leone counterparts and officials are accommodated in the best hotels available, while the match officials and the NFF contingent should also have decent accommodation,â but they must move immediately after the game to allow government guests to move in, âa source in Edo state revealed.
